When to upgrade your switchboard

Signs your home or commercial switchboard is outdated, unsafe, or under-powered — and what a modern upgrade delivers.

Older switchboards were never designed for today’s loads — air-conditioning, EV chargers, solar, induction cooktops and dense commercial fit-outs. If your board is still ceramic fuses, overcrowded, or tripping constantly, an upgrade is often the highest-value safety job you can do.

Common warning signs

  • Frequent trips on safety switches or breakers under normal use
  • Burn marks, heat or buzzing at the board
  • No RCD / safety switch protection on power and lighting circuits
  • No spare capacity when you want to add AC, solar or EV
  • Insurance or sale requirements for a modern board

What a good upgrade includes

A proper switchboard upgrade is more than swapping a metal box. We assess load, install residual current devices (RCDs) where required, label circuits clearly, and leave you with capacity for the next decade of appliances — not just today’s.

Sunshine Coast homes and sites

Coastal humidity, older hinterland stock and busy commercial tenancies all put different pressure on boards. If you’re in Forest Glen, Buderim, Maroochydore or further afield, we can inspect, quote and schedule with minimal disruption.
